Tweet Tweet

I knew that someday that I would end up tweeting (no pun intended) about Twitter. It really seems as though that some people just can't get enough of it. They like to follow other's and they like to have other's follow them. O.K. so, just what is Twitter? Well it's a website that is owned by Twitter Inc., which offers a social networking and microblogging service, enabling it's user's to send and read messages called "tweets". So, just what are tweets? They are text-based posts of upto 140 character's displayed on the user's profile page. Tweet's are usually publicly viewed, although can be privately viewed.

The company is based out of San Francisco, CA.  It was created in March of 2006 and launched that year in July. It is estimated that they have an estimated 190 million user's who send 65 million tweets a day. There are a number of different ways that people send tweets, through the website, their smart phone, ipod touch, ipad, and so forth. I suppose that is why there are a number of different Twitter apps as well. I believe along with Google and Facebook, Twitter played a pivitol part in what transpired in Egypt. What are you waiting for, go on get out there, send some tweets and enjoy your day!

Interesting News of The Day

In case you missed seeing the finale, the IBM supercomputer Watson, won again for the third day in a row. The humans just couldn’t match brain power over computer memory. He won over $77,000 for his three day total. He will be donating all of his winning proceedings to charity. They are in talks to have Watson work with doctor’s in the health care field and other industries.

In other news Google has announced that they will be updating their Social Search, which takes into account social signals to improve and personalize search results. Their Social Search has been around since 2009. How does it work? If you are searching for say a video to view, you may end up with a result that a friend might have shared on Twitter, but only for you. These results will include all social networking sites out there except for, yes you guessed it Facebook.

In other news, we have an exclusive report that Apple’s main man Steve Jobs, is receiving treatment at the same cancer center that Hollywood star Patrick Swayze received treatment in his final days. He has been receiving treatment at the
Stanford Cancer Center in Palo Alto, CA. It’s unknown whether the treatment that he is receiving stems from his liver transplant in 2009, or whether the pancreatic cancer that he had in 2004 has come back. It seems as though Mr. Jobs is really frail. I do hope and pray that someday they find a cure for cancer. I for one know the pain, I lost my Mom to cancer last summer.

Speaking of Steve Jobs, he and former CEO of Google Eric Schmidt, and the head man from Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg are meeting with President Obama. The meeting is part of an ongoing dialogue with the business community on how we can work together to win the future, strengthen our economy, support entrepreneurship, increasing our exports, and get the American people back to work. Who would of though the President would be meeting with these guys to put people back to work?

I’m done for the day, speaking of the day I hope you enjoy it!

Jeopardy Update & Sony News

The other day a spoke a little on the game show Jeopardy. It really had fascinated me whenever I had seen that IBM’s new supercomputer, Watson, named for the founder of IBM, Thomas J. Watson was to take on two human contestant’s on the game show. We didn’t have two ordinary contestant’s though. We had two former contestant’s who are Jeopardy’s highest earners, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. Needless to say Watson has blown his human counterpart’s away. He has taken home more than $30,000 each day, while his human counterpart’s haven’t faired so well. How do we think that these guy’s are supposed to compete against Watson? He is powered by 90 32-core IBM Power 750 Express server’s and 16 terabytes of memory, Wow now that’s what I call amazing.

In other news, some of you know that Sony has the Xperia Play coming out on the market. Their Playstation phone so to speak. It is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It features a slide out panel containing the Sony gaming D-pad. It has a 4inch screen along with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Some of you may not know that Sony is releasing another phone as well, the Xperia Arc. Another new smartphone powered by the Android OS. For more on these products, you can go to http://www.sonyericsson.com/

In yet more news from Sony, they are releasing a Playstation tablet named the S1. Have any of you seen this? It is I think the first gaming PC tablet. It will be powered by the Android Honeycomb 3.0 OS. It has a 9.4 inch screen, 1280 X 800 pixel resolution, and a Tegra 2 processor. It features a front and rear camera, 1 USB port, and is WIFI only compatible. Do you think Sony will have a gaming store, much like Apple has or Google does for the Android App store? We will have to wait and see! Now what are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy your day!
