Just A Little More Tech News

Microsoft finally today released a update of copy and paste for Windows Mobile Phone 7. It was only released to developer’s though. There is no word on when it will be released to the public. The new update also includes a number of performance improvements that promise to speed up application launch time. I like many other’s am still using Windows 6.5. Since my phone is flashed, maybe I’ll put Windows Mobile 7 on it and see just what all of the fuss is.

Is it true? It seems as though that Apple is using a new material for the shell of the new iPad. It seems as though that they are trying to make it lighter. I really see no need to change it. It also seens as though that they are keeping the 10 inch screen and not going to make the 7 inch. If we all know Apple like we do, I say that they will probably make both. I don’t know how they will do without Steve Jobs. I don’t know if anyone has seen him as of late, but the man really don’t look well. We will have to keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

On a latter note, it seems as though almost half of the people who have an Android based phone on Verizon will switch to the iPhone, now that Verizon is going to carry it. And the number is even greater for those who have Blackberry phones. Wow, big money for Apple and Verizon!

It seems as though that some hacker’s have hacked into the computer’s on Wall Street. It seems as though that it was the NASDAQ stock computer’s. Federal investigators are looking into it. Wow, that means that those computer’s are vulnerable. Billions of dollar’s could be who knows? Is this how the next crash is going to happen? Stay tuned, I’ll keep you posted.

Alright onto the last bit of news for the day. Is everyone ready for tomorrow’s big game? Are you for the Packer’s or the Steelers? I’m taking the Steelers on this one. Green Bay, is well green.  As always keep an eye out for those Super Bowl commercials. There is going to be one for the upcoming animated movie Rio. In the ad there will be a hidden code for a downloadable Angry Birds levels. If you miss the ad or miss the code, it will be available later on You Tube. Get on out there and enjoy your day!

A Little Tech News

Here is a little of today’s newsworthy notes. Verizon Wireless has sold out it’s pre order of their iPhone. It looks as though Verizon and Apple are about to make a lot of money. Speaking of the iPhone, the application called Greenp0ison just released their update for those of you who are interested to be able to jailbreak the 4.2.1 of that iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, untethered even. Member’s of the Chronic Dev Team released it earlier today. I would say to do a search on it, or check your favorite torrent site for the application and the instructions. Someday I’ve got to do this!

In even more Apple news, it seems as though the the iPad has been rumored to be released next week. Let’s keep our eye’s peeled for this one. It seems as though that the battle still rages on between Google and Microsoft. Google claiming that they have proof that Bing is copying Google’s search result’s. It really wouldn’t surprise me at all. I don’t know how many people out there use Bing. The search results are o.k., but Google is a lot better. I would NOT recommend anyone to download the Bing toolbar. It really slows down the IE and your computer as well. Upon further finding’s Spybot Search & Destroy finds it as spyware. I wouldn’t pull you leg on that one.

Oh and on a latter and last note, it seems as though that selling our data to advertising companies wasn’t good enough for our friends at Facebook. Now it seems as though that they are going to start sharing our phone number’s with advertiser’s as well. If you’ve got your phone number on there like I do, better take it off quickly. It also seems as though good ‘ol Uncle Sam is looking into the matter. Do we dare think that Zuckerberg will pay off the politician’s? Hmmmmmmm! Now go on, get out there and enjoy your day!

HTC

Today I would like to talk a little about the cellular phone maker HTC, which by the way stands for high tech company, in case people don't know. It is my personal belief that they make the world's best cell phones. Yes, I think that they are better than the iPhone or any other cell phone on the market. Most all of the phones that have Android on them are made by HTC. The only thing that I don't like, is that whenever the cell phone carrier's get them, they give them their own names. For example, I happen to own a Sprint Touch Pro 2. That is the name that Sprint has given them, but actually that phone was named the HTC Rhodium.

These phones are really amazing. The downside is, the cell phone provider's, well fill them with bloatware. In other word's, their own branded software that has a tendency to slow the phone down dramatically. The company HTC was founded in 1997 in Taiwan. HTC is well known for it's innovation. It is constantly broadening the range of devices that it offer's.

There were a lot of first's with this company when it comes to mobile PC's. They were the first to have a color pocket pc, First Microsoft pocket pc, first wireless, first Microsoft powered smartphone, touch screen, 3G phone, first media phone as well. I believe that it was the HTC Touch that started the whole revolution of where we are today with mobile phones.

All of the major cell phone carrier's have these phones. They either run on the Window's mobile operating system, or the Android. I truly enjoy all of these phones. They are the best. The Windows operating system is pretty good, but I believe that Android is much better. I would encourage those of you who have an HTC phone to head on over to their website to see all of their product's. Their website can be found here: http://www.htc.com/us/  For those of you who are interested in their real names, check out this website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/

The latter is where you will find all of the helpful information that you need to do what you want with your phone. They offer the best advice for accessories, software, upgrading, unlocking, and all around, just a great group of people. What are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy your day!

A Little Tech News

It  was very exciting today in the world of technology. I would say first on the list would be that they have finally gotten internet service back in the country of Egypt. Wow, almost a week later and countless amount of injured and lost fatalities, demonstrations, riots, looters, who knows what else. The only downside for them other than those injured or dead, is that they are still without any social media. That’s right still no Facebook or Twitter among other’s it seems.

It looks as though that the gloves are off. Google and Microsoft are at it again. This time with Google claiming that Microsoft’s search engine Bing is copying Google’s search results to make theirs better. For a very interesting article, take a look at this: http://www.gizmag.com/bing-copying-google-search-results/17759/

Also today for the web, Google opened the Android Market. You can browse and search for great apps, right from your web browser, that can send apps right to your Android device. The website was introduced today from Google headquarter’s, where they also showcased the new Honeycomb 3.0.

On a lighter note, Apple launched Rupert Murdoch’s new iPad exclusive new’s app, The Daily. Which cost either 99 cents a week, or $39.99 annually. It looks as though that the day is approaching that Verizon will be releasing their iPhone, one week from today. I really don’t see what the big deal is, it should be available for all carriers.

There was some other very interesting news today in the world of technology. Don’t take my word for it. Just sit back, relax, and fire up your favorite browser and start searching. As always, get out there and enjoy your day!

Software Alternatives

I do a lot of writing. I wouldn’t say that I have mastered the art of it, but I do believe that my potential is unlimited. I believe though that one has to have the right software for these purposes. I believe that Microsoft Office Suite fits into this category. It has a very good word processor and has only gotten better over time. Not only can you write and edit your writings with Office, you can do a whole lot more.

With Microsoft Office you get the Word processor and a whole lot more. Here are the other products that come with the suite: there is Access, which lets you build databases, there is Excel, which is used for spreadsheets, there is Info Path, which lets you design form’s, there is Lync, which lets you communicate with others right there in the office suite, there is Power Point which lets you create presentations, there is also the following products:  One Note, Outlook, Project, Publisher, SharePoint Workspace, and Visio.

They also make a version for the Mac and mobile phones as well. I like many others have only one real concern with Office: affordability. So if there are any out there who haven’t heard or don’t know, there are a few alternatives. One of the best known is Open Office. If you haven’t tried it, you need to. It does everything that Microsoft Offices does, and then some. The best part of it, it’s free. Open Office was a part of Sun Microsystems (the good people that gave us Java), which was bought by the bigger software company, Oracle.  For now let’s just hope Open Office continues to stay free.

The other office suite out there that does the same is LibreOffice. It really does everything that Open Office does. It was formed by some developers who left Open Office after Oracle bought it. I believe that both make really great office suites. They both can open any Microsoft Office file. The downside, is that Microsoft Office can’t open their files. Another really great alternative is Google Document’s. I’ve got to tell you that I was really impressed upon using this as well. It’s free also and it opens up all office files, including PDF. The only other office software out there that I know about is AbiWord. It is not as powerful, but still a very productive free office suite. I would really encourage you to get out there and try all of these wonderful software applications. Go ahead get out there and enjoy your day.

Web Browsers

There are different computer operating systems for different needs. It really all just depends upon the person. Microsoft has Windows, Apple has Apple, and Linux, has many to choose from. There are other operating systems that I haven’t mentioned. I guess like they say another time another blog. Since there are many different systems, what I like is that each wants you to run their web browser. Have you done a comparison of browser’s?

Google has chrome. I think by far the fastest and safest browser out there. It runs on Windows, Linux, and the Mac. I for a time would not use anything but Mozilla Firefox. Then it happened, Chrome came out. If you have not tried it, go ahead and go download it and give it a try. The second fastest browser would be Firefox. The beta 4 version of it, is well really good. It has become a lot of faster. Over the years, I thought that it had become bloated and slowed down. It is safer and has HTML 5 support as well.  Try the beta version.

Apple Safari is another really well browser which is probably the next best and fastest browser. It like Chrome and Firefox have a lot of extensions. If you haven’t  tried it give it a try as well. Most people have tried it because they package it with iTunes and Quicktime. I think that the least fastest browser out there is, and I don’t want to say it is the IE. I think that over the years Microsoft has in a way tried to copy some of the features of the other web browsers out there.

I really like what Microsoft has done with Windows, I just don’t think that the Internet Explorer is something to use to surf the internet. I think that is really slow and bloated. It is fast though if you have a really high powered processor and 2 gigabytes of memory or better. I think that what I like best is that all of the browser’s will run on Windows.

There are another different browser’s out there as well. There is Opera, Mozilla SeaMonkey, these are for Windows. Mozilla has Camino for the Mac, and there is I would say an endless list almost if you will for the Linux operating system’s. You don’t have to use one or the same old web browser, when there are many to choose from. Go on get out there and try something new today. Well now it’s time to go, get out there and enjoy your day!
